Overview: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
Dear scavenger hunters,
We received several reports from your island, a ghostly figure was seen. It leaves strange notes on the doors of your inhabitants and seems to be calling for a scavenger hunt. Pack your adventure bags and listen to its story, exciting puzzles await you!
- Solve the riddles
The further you progress in the story with the ghostly figure, the trickier puzzles might appear.
According to a rather confident islander, the puzzles are not difficult - but they require every single brain cell. There are similarities found in your kingdom, but they are only analogies and not exactly the same.
Are you able to help the inconspicuous ghostly figure?

Day 1: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
Dear adventurer,
Is it the Easter Bunny or something completely different? A ghostly figure was spotted on your island, leaving cryptic messages all around town. But ... what could that mean?
I'm the basement ghost Orowanikus of Orakus, but just call me Orowa.
I grew up with my aunt, Spooky-Hilda van Hohenstein.
I learned my trade at the Doctor Frankenstein Comprehensive School - not a good time.
When I was 16, my aunt kicked me out.
Since then I've been stuck with a haunted agency and make my living through scavenger hunts.
Until recently a few moderators hired me.
I'm supposed to take you on a journey through space and time, perform heroic deeds and uncover treasures.
Are you ready? Let's go!
A vast desert lies in front of the group. Hour after hour, the caravan passes through nothing but sand and heat.
"Look at the horizon!" Orowa points into the distance. Only a trained eye can spot the oasis in the distance.
With the last of their strength, they arrive at the oasis and while the party rests to invigorate themselves, the small cellar spirit explores the surroundings. He notices an entrance to a cave, which he had already spotted right after their arrival. He first thought it is a mirage, but it looks very real.
He beckons the group to come closer and together they inch their way to the caves.
-
Day 1: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 2
The caves seem to be inhabited. "MOD_Duimelijntje, you come with me and we'll take a look, the rest will wait here," Orowa commands.
The remaining mods sigh with relief. Meanwhile, Orowa tries to encourage MOD_Duimelijntje: "We'll take on the challenge, won't we?"
MOD_Duimelijntje nods with a pale expression and saunters behind Orowa.
Deep into the night as the mods wait for the return of Orowa and MOD_Duimelijntje, a bright light illuminates the entrance.
Orowa immediately plunges the torch in the desert sand and even before one of the mods can ask, Orowa hisses: "Nothing like anything I've ever seen before!"
Once settled in, both scouts report chambers full of gems and strange objects.
"How I'd like to have one of them," Orowa muses, "something I could live in."
-
Day 1: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
Should our heroes dare to enter the cave again? You will surely find something useful there.
-
Day 1: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
Orowa chose to go alone. After all, he is the only one who can make himself invisible.
"This should be easy," Orowa thinks. During his school days, he often snuck into the canteen to scrounge off additional meals.
He figured out that there are no cave dwellers at this time and hid this fact from his companions. While he makes his way through the caves, he trips and stumbles over his feet. As he gets up, his hand met what felt like a tiny round object on the cold rough stone floor. "WOW, it shines, I'll take it with me for Auntie."
He was always good at making up stories and so his companions believed him. Especially the part when he told them he had knocked down a cave dweller with a rolling pin. This even impressed the group very much.
As the first rays of sunshine appeared on the horizon, he finished his story and with a lot of pride in his achievement, he went to sleep.
-
Day 2: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
Despite the short sleep, everyone gets up full of enthusiasm. Even MOD_Duimelijntje, who hates Adventures, can hardly wait to explore the island further.
Hour by hour they struggle through the desert sand.
"This sucks", MOD_Snorrebaard complains, which makes MOD_Dako77 call him a cry-baby.
Orowa, on the other hand, is seemingly unaffected by the heat and aridness. Majestically he hovers over the heads of the others and asks the mods mockingly why they carry the loot instead of using it.
While MOD_Yardly and the Savage Scout are studying the area from above, the others take a nap.
"Thunderstorm!", the Savage Scout suddenly shouts. Orowa prompts up. Indeed, a giant cloud moves towards them. "That is not a thunderstorm, that is a sandstorm. WAKE UP AND HOLD TIGHT, we will fly above it!"
Orowa's plan works. After a few hours, the storm calms down.
"Where are we?", MOD_Duimelijntje asks.
"That's a good question and it is not like we knew where we are before", answers MOD_Dako77.
Orowa shakes the sand out of his sheets and replies: "This has to be the cursed Coop-Triangle."
His companions look at each other flabbergasted.
"Can you see the strait over there? That is the entrance to the Sea of Coop." Owora points towards the beach ahead of them. "Here our next adventure will start“
Orowa leaves the group to get an overview. When he rejoins the others, he paints a very detailed map of the island in the sand.
"You should move silently and carefully here because the area is home to many gruesome creatures." Orowa points at the Forest in front of them.
"As you can see, you can't see anything", jokes MOD_Snorrebaard.
"You have to look more closely", whispers Orowa.
And indeed, they see beasts patrolling the pathways between the churches. Two towers up north are also visible.
"Investigate the churches", Orowa explains. "We should be able to find more information there."
"Is Mister Ghost too good to do it himself?", rumbles MOD_Snorrebaard.
"No, but there are enough creatures around this place which scare even me!", Orowa retorts sharply. "We have to split up. That way, we can do things faster and reduce the chance to be spotted. Afterward, we meet here again.“
With the first church, our group has no luck. They only found dirt everywhere they looked but the second church was more interesting. The second group found black candles, placed around the pulpits.
And in the shadows, some figures appear. What could this be?
-
Day 2: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 2
Miraculously, no one raised the alarm. Only two of these mysterious figures from the churches had to be gagged and tied up.
Interestingly, both groups experienced exactly the same thing. The only difference is that one of the characters called himself "Gatekeeper" and the other "Keymaster".
"From the churches, we move on", Orowa says. "Should we examine both towers at the same time?"
After a short, but fierce debate between MOD_Yardly, who believes that the group is stronger together and the Savage Scout, who is convinced of the opposite, the group agrees to split up again.
What will they find in the towers?
-
Day 2: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
-
Day 2: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
"We have everything we need now. Let's move on immediately", say Orowa who doesn't even notice the empty and exhausted looks of his comrades.
"This is the moment he had been waiting for for a long time. He will show his aunt and all those who ever doubted him", Orowa thought to himself.
Wearily his companions followed him and ended up in a place shrouded in darkness. It is so dark they could not even see their hands in front of their eyes. A spooky place and some of them shuddered as they recall their recent encounter in the church.
A flicker of light came on. MOD_Duimelijntje found torches and lighted them one by one. They seem to be standing in a large mausoleum. Shadows dance on the walls as the group traipses along moving some objects around.
Only Orowa seems unimpressed. "Spirits don't fear the darkness," he notes nonchalantly.
"Earlier in the church things looked quite different," MOD_Snorrebaard replies.
What else will our friends find here?
-
Day 2: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 5
The group's mood is at an all-time low.
"I told you before - this trainee ghost is not worth his salt", remarks MOD_Dako77.
Orowa did not hear him at all, because he noticed fresh foot-tracks.
Who or what could have made these tracks?
-
Day 2: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 6
Fortunately, Orowa had developed a pronounced sense of smell through years of practice and the bandits don't take hygiene seriously at all. Orowa's nose leads the group around the ruins and further into the middle of the dreaded Coop Triangle until they reach a cruciform island.
"Let's surround the bandits," Orowa commands. Nobody protests, not even MOD_Duimelijntje who seems too preoccupied at the moment.
"But for heaven's sake be very quiet and keep your swords drawn!," Orowa adds.
The bandits don't like trespassers and the group meets heavy resistance. Since Orowa is on their side, they thought they had the advantage. However, what they expected to be a quick victory turned into a long-drawn battle.
Eventually, the bandits were forced into submission one by one and those left standing threw down their weapons.
Only the bandit leader, Brandubh, the black raven, is left standing. Determined to defend his rightfully captured treasure with his life but when a ghost emerged out of nowhere, even this evil-looking fellow turned tail and ran into the darkness.
Unfortunately, their victory did not last long, because whirlwinds suddenly arose from all directions. Did they miss anything? Orowa falls down, his eyes turned white with dismay as he remembers the old stories about Brandubh. About his wild raids and his mastery of magic as a warlock.
The whirlwinds reach its full power and it rips everything apart in its way, blowing away the hinges of their camp.
They must come up with something and quickly. Orowa looks deeply into the helpless faces of his companions until all of a sudden, an idea flashed in his mind.
"MOD_Yardly, hand me the figurine!", Orowa yells. "Everyone, stand in a circle around the figurine!"
"If by any chance, we have no...", before MOD_Snorrebaard can finish the sentence, the group is swallowed by an intense flash of blue light.
A little later, the eye of what is probably the fiercest hurricane they have ever seen pulverized its way through their campsite.
-
Day 3: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
Squeezed together, the group travels at a back-breaking pace through space and time. Their faces turned white, more so than Orowa's ghostly sheets as they continue to descend into the earth, past thick clouds and startled flocks of migratory birds.
"THERE..." Before MOD_Duimelijntje can point to a purple craft on the horizon, the group are abruptly turned upside down.
"Ouch, did we hit the ground...", whimpers Orowa.
"I thought ghosts don't feel pain," etches MOD_Dako77 back.
Actually, the group hovers over the earth, their light capsule stops just inches off the ground. Before our friends notice it, the protective barrier implodes and everyone crashes roughly to the ground.
Above them an unknown purple craft remains stationed, something that they already caught a glimpsed on in their descent.
-
Day 3: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - part 2
Shortly after our adventurers regained their strength, they notice someone coming. Did this person come out of that purple craft?
-
Day 3: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
"Welcome travelers, you seem to have a lot of stories to tell," says the stranger. "Perhaps you'd like to share them over a cup of tea?
Out of curiosity the group hesitatingly agrees.
"So you are looking for adventures?" asks their new acquaintance. "Put these text modules together. That's how you'll make maps. And who knows where they'll take you."
Although the group is still weak in the knees from the landing, they start working on the puzzle.
What will the map show? What adventures are in store for them?
-
Day 3: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
Our adventurers sip their tea in a hurry. Finally, a map with new adventures lies before them. Their new friend smiles graciously and offers to accompany the group to the adventure. Our adventurers agree.
And as if that weren't enough, their new friend places a bag in Orowa's hand. "You'll need this. You will soon find out why."
Orowa looks curiously at the bag in his hand.
"Good luck my comrades" he hears their new friend say. "I'm sure we'll see each other again soon."
Our adventurers go on their way. Not long after, a dark cloud starts to loom over which reminds them of the hurricane they narrowly escaped. But this time, it's different and the cloud dark cloud seems to mumble something. Our adventurers look at each other in amazement.
"Turn back or your life will end", it rumbles threateningly.
"What was that?" asks MOD_Yardly.
-
Day 3: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 5
"Are we going to run away from that?" Orowa asks defiantly. He turns and sees fearfully pale faces.
"If you only knew the true horrors I have faced!", Orowa looks back on his previous life with a shiver. The tortures of Spooky-Hilda... Helene Fischer!!
"We have come this far," Orowa hears MOD_Yardly says.
MOD_Duimelijntje looks at the rest of the team and with renewed determination, they rise up to the challenge and continues on their journey. They read the instructions on the map and made use of the item that Orowa received - it definitely was handy.
As they return from their adventure, they find that an old acquaintance is waiting for them.
"You've really done it," she says, "This calls for a celebration!"
Behind her is a table covered with grilled steaks and freshly tapped malt beer. "Eat as much as you want! - For tonight you are my guests."
-
Day 4: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
A loud shriek jolts Orowa out of his sleep. He hastily looks around. "Who is in need? Does anyone need help?"
He looks over to MOD_Snorrebaard, who is already standing next to his bed and smugly replies: "Calm down, it's just a rooster."
Orowa hears a pounding on the door.
"ATTENTION!!! Chin up, chest out, shoulders back, stomach in!"
Puzzled and still half asleep, the rest of the mods looked at each other. A small man struts into the room. Strict look, brush haircut, arms clasped behind his back. Only MOD_Snorrebaard stands straight up and stares straight into the wall. The little man draws near him, inspects him with an empty look and hisses 'well done' at him.
At this very moment, the other adventurers casually get up on their feet. But before they are able to compose themselves, they are ordered to do 100 pushups and subsequent latrine service by the strange small man.
-
Day 4: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 2
Our adventurers have already experienced a lot and done amazing things in their exploits so far. But they have never been pushed so close to their limit. Most impressive is MOD_Snorrebaard. He had done everything right and made a good impression.
And as our group goes about cleaning the latrines, the little man suddenly reappears. His stern look collapses to a neutral expression. You could almost think he is smiling. The scars on his face bear witness to many battles he must have fought.
"Follow me!", says the little man.
What our adventurers do not know is how long this little man has not had many guests. He is well-known for his roughness. And now he has all the time in the world that day to show our adventures "everything".
-
Day 4: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
"And, what can you say about my house? Impressive, is not it?" For a moment the commander smiles - but then his stern look returns to his face, and he maintained this look all throughout the morning.
"Your trainees are elite warriors. Are those sentries in the back your trainees too?" Orowa asks as he points to the far end of the yard.
-
Day 4: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
"Yes, these are our best and bravest warriors," the commander replies. "Although the training takes a long time, they win every battle in which I lead them!"
"Where do you send them?" The curiosity is evident on the face of our adventurers.
Where do you only need such warriors?
"All very fascinating," replies Orowa. "When we have time the next time we come here. We'll join their training."
The rest of the group looks at Orowa sharply. "That's how we learn something useful for our adventures," he continues.
Orowa shakes the commander's hand and signals his companions, they can now leave this place. And so, our group heads off into another adventure.
-
Day 5: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
A familiar face is already waiting at the foot of the rope ladder to the purple craft.
In her hands, she holds a new map. "The last adventure still seems to shake you to the bones. I know it's going to take a lot to get you going again, but this mission can't be delayed and you're the only ones I can trust to do the job."
The urgency of her words is disturbing to our adventurers. The mission seems very important to her, so our adventurers agree that they will leave immediately.
"You will need some equipment. You will find what you need back there in that building."
In which building will our adventurers receive their equipment?
-
Day 5: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 2
Ready for a new adventure, our friends climb onto the purple craft. As Orowa looks to the horizon, he feels that their next adventure will not be so easy.
The purple craft starts to ascend. "I thank you for your courage," the message echos from a mouthpiece. "I am deeply in your debt and wish you good luck."
Our adventurers leaves aboard the purple craft, somewhat trembled, uncertain what they've gotten themselves into again.
-
Day 5: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
Our friends are going through a rough patch. Snowstorms and rugged mountains. Since they are not wearing snowshoes, there is always a threat that they sink into deep snow if they don't move carefully. The sun is high above them and makes harder to tread in the snow.
Blinded by the sun's light, our adventurers slip one by one on a block of smooth ice. And yet they survive without a scratch. They end up standing in front of a shiny black wolf statue.
What is it made of?
-
Day 5: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
Orowa is so furious that his friends hardly recognize him. He storms toward the statue.
MOD_Yardly stops him. "There can be traps!"
Upon closer inspection, the statue seems to be placed on top of a pedestal connected to some sort of mechanism.
"The mechanism must not be activated, let's be very careful," adds Savage Scout.
Our adventurers are busy examining the pedestal. "The mechanism looks sluggish. If we quickly replace the statue with something of the same weight, there should be no problem," Orowa suggests.
He starts digging in his luggage and finds a rusty folding spade.
"I'll dig my own grave later," he notes cynically. Very fast he takes the statue and replaces it with the rusty folding spade. "Now let us get out of here before we freeze."
The rest of their party are already waiting for them, "You've got the statue. Thank the heavens. The miners in the volcanic forge are very superstitious. This statue will reassure the miners and they will resume their work. And now that you have completed this important mission, come with me and let us celebrate."
-
Day 6: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
The next morning our heroes could not believe their eyes as they slowly stroll about early in the day. "What happened here? Are those corpses wandering aimlessly about?" MOD_Duimelijntje looks puzzled.
Lifeless animated bodies that smell of decayed flesh. Better run away if you see them on your island.
-
Day 6: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 2
Our adventurers climb back to the purple craft to get a better view of what is going on.
"She will surely know what's happening", says Orowa as he consistently looks over his shoulder for fear of being followed by these mysterious creatures.
"What's going on? What's with this spooky music and those creatures?" Savage Scout walks back and forth on the purple craft. "Can you explain to us what's happening here?"
-
Day 6: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
"I hardly dare say it; we need your help one more time. Find the Mad Scientist," with much distress, the captain looks to our adventurers.
"The mad scientist? Where do we find him?", asks Orowa, who is already looking forward to their next adventure.
-
Day 6: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
"Once you find him, ask him for the recipe. Only with this recipe can the Horror on the island be defeated," says the captain.
"The Horror?" MOD_Snorrebaard looks at the island beyond the railing, "down there everything seems the same, so which horror do you mean exactly?"
The captain hands a telescope to MOD_Snorrebaard. "Do you see that small island in the heart of the sea? This is where you'll find 'the Horror'."
What could this 'Horror' be?
-
Day 6: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 5
Our adventurers set out to seek the Mad Scientist. Princess Zoe bangs against the gate and a thin airy voice answers from inside.
"IGOR, we have guests, go open the door!" The gate opens with a creaking sound and a short, wild-haired Knauz faces them. "Why are you disturbing me and what do you want? I don't have time for you. Igor is gone and I have too many experiments to conduct."
He promptly tries to close the gate, but Princess Zoe purposely planted her foot in the door. "We need the recipe against the 'Great Terror'. We are sent to fight it!"
"Ah, the recipe is what you want", the Mad Scientist starts digging around in his pockets and throws out a crumbled piece of paper. "Here you go. Now leave!"
Our adventurers immediately unfurl the paper to learn the recipe.
"We have the recipe", Orowa hurries to the rope ladder, "Let's use it and put an end to this Horror!"
It doesn't take long for Orowa to get back to the group, a few bottles in his hand. "Let's get this over with, I really can't stand this spooky music any longer!"
MOD_Duimelijntje grabs two of the bottles and sets out to the island. The others follow her, all of them armed with bottles too.
As soon as they arrive at their destination, they face the 'Terror'. Princess Zoe throws the first bottle. The 'Terror' screams, squirms and lashes out at the adventurers, who are throwing their bottles one by one. The last bottle turns the 'Terror' to dust, the spooky music falls silent and is replaced by another tune ...
-
Day 7: Scavenger hunt with Orowa
... "No, that can't be, just listen to this music - it sounds like ..." starts MOD_Yardly and sways to the jingle of the bells.
-
Day 7: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 2
Snow falls on all the buildings. Festive decorations, candy canes, and reindeers appear everywhere. Everything sparkles and the locals are very exuberant. Our adventurers stroll towards the town hall, where MOD_Dako77 suddenly stumbles and begins to berate like a reed-sparrow: "Who leaves all this stuff lying around, dang it...?"
-
Day 7: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 3
MOD_Yardly bends over, picks up the thing MOD_Dako77 stumbled over and nibbles at it.
"This is quite delicious," she mumbles to herself as they reach the square in front of the town hall. Here, too, everything is in a festive mood.
A particular snow figure catches our adventurers' attention with much fascination, what could this be?
-
Day 7: Scavenger hunt with Orowa - Part 4
Our adventurers start to sing along. They take part in a snowball fight on the town square. The children are all excited and they could hardly wait for the evening to start.
"What happens in the evening?" MOD_Snorrebaard asks as he looks at the children who are playing at the hillside. "We are standing here in the snow, with all these decorations and stuff. What else could the children be all excited about?"
"It seems they are still expecting something", says Savage Scout.
-
Scavenger hunt with Orowa - The End
The End
The evening begins and ice crystals sparkle under the moonlight.
It is a fairy-tale atmosphere. Peace and reverie fill the village square.
As the last song plays, the community which let the evening fade away in the glow of the campfire leaves the square to return to their homes.
The adventurers are invited to spend the night in the Town Hall before they retreat to their accommodation.
For a while, soft rumbles about the festivities echo in the room.
They all miss their home and with wistful smiles on their lips when they finally fall asleep.
*beep, beep, beep...*
Sleepy, Orowa rubs his eyes.
"People, the rooster, crows, we must... People?" Confused, he looks around. "Where did everybody go? Wait... Where am I?"
Completely baffled, he jumps up and looks around.
Old, damp walls surround him and the beeping that woke him up comes from an alarm clock.
"Spooky-Hilda... I am with auntie. The adventures, the group - it was all just a dream?"
Stunned, he walks back and forth. He stumbles over something lying on the ground.
"What's this!?", he mutters. "I knew it, after all... I had taken it with me for auntie. It was not a dream after all?"
