Dear Settlers,

On today's occasion, we invite you to write a letter to your favorite The Settlers Online NPC! How often have you defeated the Evil King or the Dark Magician from the Fairytale adventures thanks to your Veteran? How many times your explorer ventured into the unknown, facing real danger to discover new sectors for you?

Post your game related letters (as a comment in this thread or letter pictures) and we'll reward the best ones with 500 gems for this Special Spotlight Edition.

Here is an example:

Dear Wild Mary,

It seems like it wasn't enough defeating you on my home island. Oh no, fate in its mysterious ways has brought me once again in front of you, this time in adventures! The screams of terrified citizens whom you raided have reached my most noble generals.

I shall have no mercy defeating you once again, for your face is not worth sunburning.

Prepare to square up!

Submission of entries will end on the 12th of September!
We're looking forward to reading the best contributions!

Have fun,
BB_Nanuq

Dear game,

What strikes me the most, is the non-interpretation of races inside you. I'd like to think that's because of a high level of tollerance to diversity in colours.
In my humble opinion, colours are often a reason for problems. Problems emerge when what is black for person x, appears to be white for person Y.
I'd like to thank you for the plainness in all of your colours.

Yours truly,

JamesLaperti

Beste Settlers,

Have fun,

That's what I call creativity. Instead of writing to an NPC, he wrote to the game directly. A very strong message hidden behind it, this is one strong entry!

Hello Merc,

It really depends on your writer's soul. If you think that a certain language can display what you really feel about an NPC so be it. Write in the language that will paint a vivid mental picture of what you want to share. Oh! and please don't limit yourself and your letter to be formal. It can be anything from asking aunt Irma to stop sending food because your soldiers end up not fitting their armor to Warning Ali Baba that you're coming to get him.

I thank you for your interest and hope that we get this community livelier that it already is!

To Saphira_17,

A heartfelt letter of appreciation to General Hein. This is one of the "more emotional" letters that I've read so far. Also, big kudos on the effort of creating by far one of the best contenders to this contest.

To the Mayor of Settlertown,

With the deepest regret, I must inform you that the campaign on the valiant little tailor island has almost come to a standstill, not only because of the weather, but of the ferocious attacks of our enemies.

During the first few weeks, the landing site was secured and we met little resistance and our forces rejoiced that as a good omen for a swift and speedy victory, but then the troubles began when hordes of wolves attacked the supply lines.

Many soldiers died defending the bread and wine supplies (wonder why they fought as bravely about those), and had to witness the caravans of swords to be taken away into enemy hands. These raids continued during the next days until General Bighelmet and his forces defeated the main Wolves and Bears army near the end of sector one in a glorious battle worthy of songs in the years to come.

During that battle one of our Master of Martial arts generals was seriously wounded when a wolfpack leader bit him harshly in his behind so he was unable to ride in the next sector and we needed his skills most desperately.

We lost two battle hardened generals when a couple of giants used their clubs to smash in their helmets and it took two weeks for blacksmiths to peel of the iron that was wrapped around their faces. All that time they could only be fed with liquids, which was good for their constitution, but the weight loss mend that their armor was too big for them in next sector.

When our forces finally reached the last sector the evil king sent out his best troops and although we fought as lions, we couldn’t prevent them from overrunning our supply wagons. Many soldiers cried out when the enemy took the brew from the carts and retreated laughing into the woods.

So I employ you to sent with all haste, new resources and particular large quantities of brew so our demoralised forces can once again charge with vigor and high spirits (not too high off course else they fly over the enemy camps) into battle.

Yours faithfully

General Major Tumblewood, Commander in chief of the settler armies.

To my very best friend Sir Robin,

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the entertainment you provided my friends, relieving them of their burden of gold and jewellery!

The way you ambushed those merchants and nobles was a work of art! Killing their guards provided a lot of new work opportunity for the unemployed in the area.

At first I was surprised and I must say a bit disappointed when I learned you didn't molest the women who accompanied my friends.

Then I heard you reserved that treat for the men! I have heard your group described as Robin Hood and his merry men, I now see why. You certainly had "a gay old time"!

Rest assured my good friend that I will repay you in kind. Already I have dispatched a dozen generals, all with a full complement of men, and all just as friendly towards men as you are.

They will soon arrive to do battle with you and the cries of those of your men that do not perish immediately will be heard for a long, long time.

I will of course be there to supervise the carnage and do honour to my name Bedlam. And a bedlam it will be!

Blood and other bodily fluids will flow like rivers. It will be glorious!

Yours sincerely,

BriggiBedlam

This letter was interesting. A ration request letter that also displayed the urgency of the need for it. Good job!

Hello BriggiBedlam,

A very controversial letter indeed! I knew that "Merry Men" had a meaning I just didn't know what it was. Very funny indeed.
